The Kiwanis Club of Mid-Montgomery County (formerly North Bethesda) and the Kiwanis Club of Gaithersburg-Germantown merged in December of 2006 to provide a combination of membership, activities and sponsored youth projects within one strong mid-county club. Projects such as the child car safety seat program, ice cream socials at local nursing homes, and weekly reading projects with elementary school children give members many opportunities to get involved in caring for our local community.
Our annual holiday nut sales provide us with funds to support a variety of programs, including: Scholarships to Montgomery College, donations to Community Clinics Incorporated and the Treatment and Learning Centers, books for the Greentree Shelter, Safe Kids magazine distribution, Ice Cream Socials at various retirement homes, Special Olympics, walk-a-thons, clothing and food drives and much, much more. We plan to hold an art auction fundraiser in the Fall of 2007 to further fund these projects.
We currently meet on the first and third Wednesday evenings of each month at the Bowl America on Clopper Road in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Meeting cost is $17 per person, and includes a nice buffet dinner and special speakers or programs of interest to our membership. We also hold a variety of social activities for our members throughout the year, and are proud to sponsor the Kiwanis Key Club of Gaithersburg High School! Whatever we do, we are also sure to have FUN doing it!
